The Red Tail Silverado Endler’s Guppy is a stunning, tank-bred variety of Poecilia wingei that features a shimmering metallic silver body accented by deep black markings and a bold, fiery red tail. This colorful and compact livebearer is ideal for peaceful community tanks and nano setups, where its movement and vibrancy bring life and energy to the aquascape. Its hardy nature and active behavior make it a favorite for beginner and experienced hobbyists alike.

What We Love About This Fish:

Brilliant coloration: Striking red tail, silver body, and bold black accents
Small and lively: Perfect for nano and planted aquariums
Peaceful temperament: Great with small fish and most invertebrates
Easy to breed: Livebearer that reproduces readily in the right conditions

Natural Habitat:

Poecilia wingei originate from freshwater streams and lagoons in Venezuela, often found in clear, slow-moving waters dense with aquatic vegetation. These environments provide ample cover and biofilm for grazing.

Aquascaping:

Plants: Java Moss, Hornwort, Rotala, Frogbit
Hardscape: River rocks, smooth driftwood, small caves for hiding
Botanicals: Indian Almond Leaves, Catappa Bark, Alder Cones, or our Botanical Combo pack which has a mixture of leave litter and other botanicals.

Diet and Feeding:

These guppies are omnivores and will thrive on a varied diet of:
• High-quality flake food and micro-pellets
• Live or frozen baby brine shrimp, daphnia, and microworms
• Blanched vegetables or spirulina-based foods for added nutrition

Tank Mates and Compatibility:

Red Tail Silverado Endlers do well with peaceful community fish like small tetras, rasboras, otocinclus, and Corydoras. They are also compatible with most adult freshwater shrimp, though small shrimp fry may be at risk without sufficient plant cover.

Shrimp Safe:

Generally safe with adult Neocaridina and Caridina shrimp, though they may eat newly hatched fry. Providing dense moss or hiding places will help reduce risk.

Breeding:

Like all Endlers and guppies, this variety is a livebearer. They reproduce readily when kept in stable water conditions with a good diet. Fry can be raised in the same tank if ample cover is provided.

Recommended Tank Parameters:

Temperature: 72° - 80° F (22° - 27° C)
pH: 6.8 – 7.8
KH: 5 – 15 dKH
Minimum Tank Size: 5 gallons

Care Guidelines:

Diet: Omnivorous – Accepts flakes, micro pellets, and frozen/live foods
Social Behavior: Peaceful; thrives in groups
Origin: Tank Bred
Average Adult Size: 1 inch (2.5 cm)
Average Purchase Size: 0.5 – 1 inch (1.2 – 2.5 cm)

Looking to brighten up your tank with movement and color? The Red Tail Silverado Endler’s Guppy is a fantastic centerpiece for nano and community aquariums alike.
